A Bird Will Soar

One of the most heartfelt books I've read in a good while is A Bird Will Soar, by Alison Green Myers. Written for middle grade kids, this novel unfolds so easily and naturally I want you to experience the surprises and discoveries yourself; I don't want to reveal its secrets. But, if I were still a kid, I'd want to visit a raptor rehabilitation center IMMEDIATELY upon reading the last page. This is a tender book to sink into, to experience the world as this particular kid does, to remember what friendship means and what families can be. I loved it, and I hope you'll give it a try. (Startling realization: this is Myers' debut novel.)
